Live in Melbourne

State of Victoria 🇦🇺

It has about 4.8 million inhabitants and is located in the state of Victoria, in the southwest of the country.

4 seasons in ☝🏻 "day"

It is constantly changing! You can wake up to a sunny beautiful day and then, out of the blue, it will start raining cats and dogs. Just to become sunny again an hour later. Don’t worry, you will get used to it!
In addition, having a cooler climate in winter, means skiing is only 3 hours away from the city.

Neighborhoods chosen by students 🏘

Are you wondering which are the best areas to live? Melbourne offers many options. Near the city centre, you can find quiet and residential neighbourhoods like South Yarra or South Melbourne.

Within walking distance of Melbourne CBD, you will find Southbank. You can rent an apartment or room in a new skyscraper that usually has a spa, pool or gym, among other amenities.

In the northern part of the city, you will find neighbourhoods such as Collingwood, Carlton or Richmond. These are alternative, “hipsters” areas with independent shops, quirky cafes and trendy bars.

To the south, the mythical St Kilda, a dynamic neighbourhood in front of the beach and with a lot of entertainment available!

To the west, there are also others attractive places like Yarraville or Maidstone. You know everything will depend on your budget and preference.

How to move? 🚉

It is one of the best things about Australia! You can move by train, tram or bus. They all have good connections and they run often.  Melbourne’s public transport card is called Myki Card. You can easily top it up and travel anywhere.

One of the best things about Melbourne is that trams are free in the city centre. Yes, it’s true and we love it! If you work and live there, you will spend nothing on public transport. If, on the other hand,  you are “green”, athletic and prefer not to spend, cycling is always a good and safe option. Melbourne has many bike lanes and it is very common to see people commuting to work in the morning.

The centre of sport events in Australia 🏋🏻

Melbourne has many events throughout the year. Some of them are: Moomba Festival,  Good Beer Week, Open House Melbourne, Melbourne Cup Carnival, among many others. Not to mention the number of international artists on tour that stop in Melbourne to deliver world-renowned shows.
Outstanding sports events like Formula 1, Moto GP, Australian Open, Rip Curl World Surfing Championship, Australian Footy and cricket games, are held in or around Melbourne.
